ROXICODONE is:
- A strong prescription pain reliever that contains an opioid (narcotic) used to treat pain that is severe enough to require an opioid pain reliever when other pain treatments such as non-opioid pain relievers aren’t treating your pain well enough or you can not tolerate it.
- An opioid pain reliever that can put you at risk of overdose and death. Even if you take your dose as directed, there is a risk of opioid addiction, abuse, and abuse that can lead to death
What is the most important information I should know about ROXICODONE?
- Get emergency help right away if you take too much ROXICODONE® (overdose). When you first start taking ROXICODONE®, when your dose changes, or when you take too much (overdose) you can experience serious or life-threatening breathing problems, which can lead to death.
- Taking ROXICODONE with other opioid drugs, benzodiazepines, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants (including street drugs) can result in severe drowsiness, decreased consciousness, breathing problems, coma, and death.
ROXICODONE can cause serious side effects. These serious side effects include:
- The possible side effects of ROXICODONE® are Constipation, nausea, drowsiness, vomiting, fatigue, headache, dizziness, and abdominal pain. Call your doctor if you have any of these symptoms and they are severe.
- Get emergency medical help if you have any of the following problems: difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, rapid heartbeat, chest pain, swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, extreme drowsiness, drowsiness when changing positions, fainting, restlessness, high temperature, trouble walking, or stiff muscles mental changes such as confusion.
How should I take ROXICODONE?
- Don’t change your dose. Take ROXICODONE® exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Use the lowest possible dose for the shortest time needed.
- Take your prescribed dose every 4 to 6 hours. Do not take more than the prescribed dose. If you miss a dose, take your next dose at your usual time.
- Call your doctor if the dose you’re taking isn’t controlling your pain.
- If you have been taking ROXICODONE® regularly, do not stop taking ROXICODONE® without talking to your doctor.
- Flush unused tablets down the toilet after you stop taking ROXICODONE®.
Important Safety Information
Do not take ROXICODONE if you:
- Severe asthma, difficulty breathing, or other lung problems.
- An intestinal blockage or narrowing of the stomach or intestines.
- Allergy to oxycodone.
While taking ROXICODONE DO NOT:
- Drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how ROXICODONE® affects you. ROXICODONE® may make you sleepy, dizzy, or light-headed.
- Drink alcohol or use prescription or over-the-counter medications that contain alcohol. Using products containing alcohol while being treated with ROXICODONE® can lead to overdose and death.
Ask your doctor if you don’t know.
What should I tell my doctor before taking ROXICODONE?
Tell your doctor if you have in the past:
- Head injury, seizures
- problems urinating
- Liver, kidney, and thyroid problems
- Problems with the pancreas or gallbladder
- Abuse of street or prescription drugs, alcohol addiction, or mental health issues.
- If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Prolonged use of ROXICODONE® during pregnancy can cause withdrawal symptoms in your newborn, which can be life-threatening if not recognized and treated.
- If you are breastfeeding. ROXICODONE® passes into breast milk and can harm your baby.
Let your doctor know if you’re taking any prescription or nonprescription medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements.
Taking ROXICODONE with Certain other medicines can cause serious side effects, which can be fatal

Never give your ROXICODONE to anyone else. You could die taking it. Keep ROXICODONE away from children and in a safe place to avoid theft or misuse. Selling or giving away ROXICODONE is against the law.
What are the ingredients of ROXICODONE?
Active ingredient: oxycodone hydrochloride
Other ingredients:
ROXICODONE 5 mg tablet contains inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose and stearic acid.
The 15 mg and 30 mg tablets contain the following inactive ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose; sodium starch glycolate; corn starch; Lactose; stearic acid; D & C Yellow No. 10 (15 mg tablet); and FD&C Blue #2 (15 mg and 30 mg tablets).
